A rising tide of fraud and the increasing cost of personal injury claims are fuelling increases for the UK’s 33m motorists.
They could push the average premium of a driver with a full noclaims bonus from around £400 to £480. Even conservative estimates suggest a rise of 10%.
Patrick Smith, chief executive of the Swinton group, said: ‘I would say that premiums are 20% lower than they should be. They are seriously adrift. Within the next 12 months there will be a significant correction.’ He said this could see the average motoring insurance policy rise by around £80….
